Project Description
NBLC was retained alongside Baird + Associates as part of a team led by The Planning Partnership to provide research and analysis for the City of Barrie’s Marina Business Plan, and to provide overall economic advice in the development of a Waterfront Master Plan.
NBLC looked closely at how the marina influences the downtown in terms of economic and market opportunities and how the marina could be leveraged for the betterment of Barrie’s downtown core. This analysis led to recommendations on site planning and the design of nearby development to ensure strong linkages between the waterfront, the downtown and future retail and residential development opportunities.
From this research, NBLC developed alternative business models for the marina and undertook a financial analysis to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each.
