Project Description
NBLC was retained by the United Church of Canada (UCC) to review its entire portfolio of real estate consisting of over 3,000 properties nation wide. Our assignment was first to create geographically linked data base that allowed the UCC to quickly identify its holdings and key property features in an easily managed format. We then evaluated each of the properties in terms of real estate value and priority as a filter for evaluating redevelopment proposals as properties become available. The UCC is committed to leveraging some of its assets to build new affordable housing and NBLC specifically identified opportunities and structures for early “wins”. With a firm understanding of the real estate NBLC then critically reviewed past redevelopment initiatives, identified the strengths and weaknesses of the approach including decision making and proposed a new structure. This new structure is now working its way towards implementation.
